Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) assists children with social, emotional and character development through one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring adults. Children in the program come from a wide variety of backgrounds, many coming from single parent households, living at or below poverty level.

With Fond du Lac in the midst of a cold winter, timing could not have been better for a donation of coats for the children in the BBBS program. “When Tom from Habitat called asking if we could use 200 coats they had received in house, of course my answer was yes!” said Tammy Young, Executive Director of BBBS. “Many of our children and parents are in need of coats to keep them warm in the winter time. The timing was perfect, Habitat for Humanity made a BIG difference!”

Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building home, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve shelter conditions.
