Start Something BIG!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County has developed a variety of programs to fit the diverse lifestyles of our volunteers. We pride ourselves in forming healthy one-to-one relationships between children (Littles) and positive role models (Bigs).

The following are brief descriptions of the programs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County has to offer to High School Students and Adults:

School/Site-Based Match
School/Site Based matches get together for 30-45 minutes each week during the Little's lunch hour at their school or during an after-school program at a designated site. School/Site Based matches spend this time talking, playing games, working on homework and many other activities on the school or site grounds. School/Site Based mentoring has been proven to help students develop a more positive attitude towards school, improve grades, and improve relationships with both adults and peers. To be a School/Site Based Big Brother or Big Sister, the Big must be able to get to the school or after school site of the Little, have the flexibility to meet once a week over the lunch hour (this is flexible depending on the school and/or teacher) or during the after-school program, and be at least 16 years of age.
Community-Based (Traditional) Match
The Community Based program matches a Little one-to-one with a Big. The match spends a few hours per month together doing everyday activities at their convenience. The initial commitment is for one year; however, the ultimate goal is for the match to develop into a life long friendship. A Community Based Big Brother or Big Sister must be at least 16 years old, have reliable transportation, and auto insurance. In addition, Bigs under 18 years old must maintain a 2.5 GPA or above, have the permission of a parent/guardian to participate, and meet all Big Brothers Big Sisters guidelines.
Big Couple Match
A Big Couple program provides a unique opportunity for married couples. It's a community-based match very similar to that of the one-to-one program, except that the married couples are matched together with one Little. If they can hang out with a Little as a couple, that's great. Or if one spouse is particularly busy one week, then the other can hang with the Little individually. The Little benefits not only from adding two new caring people into his life, but they also get to see first-hand how two adults interact in a healthy, loving relationship. The Big Couple program is perfect for any married couple, but particularly for the younger married couples or the "empty nesters" with grown children.
Big Family Match
The Big Family match was developed for Bigs who would like to include their family in the match experience. Having the same standards as a traditional match, all adults must go through the enrollment process and comply with all Big Brothers Big Sisters guidelines. Any children in the family will take part in a family interview and will be expected to maintain the same standards of confidentiality as the rest of the family.
Bigs For A Day
Bigs For A Day are volunteer groups that sponsor activities for our Ready-To-Be-Matched Littles. Activities such as picnics, pottery painting, bowling parties, fishing, and teaching a sport or hobby are all possible activities to be hosted by your group. Groups that can get involved include church groups, civic organizations, businesses, schools, and college clubs are just some of the possibilities. Make a Difference by showing you care! Your group will enjoy the opportunity to interact with kids while providing encouragement and a positive example. This short-term commitment is FUN and REWARDING!
