If you have never been to the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) office, now is the time to do so! With the help of 4 Marian University students (McKenna Rohan, Mary Scharinger, Sarah Otradovec and Melissa Spannbauer), countless Bigs, Littles, BBBS Board Members and BBBS Staff, the lobby has a new addition!
“People who are passionate about BBBS, spent the last month creating a tile mural that now hangs proudly in the BBBS lobby,” said Tammy Young, Executive Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters. “Lisa Warntjes, our newest hire, led the charge. I love it! It is a great example of what happens when people work together.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a United Way Agency that assists children with social, emotional and character development through one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring adults. BBBS matches children with Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Big Couples, or Big Families in a community or school based program. Children aged 6 through 13 can enroll in the program through parent or guardian referral. There are currently 60 children on the BBBS waiting list. It is a great time to volunteer 4 – 6 hours per month! Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license for the community based program, 16 years old for the school based program. For more information about the program or to volunteer, call 920-922-8200 or visit www.bbbsfdl.org.
