Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County (BBBS) celebrated the opening of their new facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 17th. The nonprofit organization purchased a new building at the end of August located at 987 S. Main St. in Fond du Lac to serve the growing number of children in their program.
Members of Envision Greater Fond du Lac, Ripon Chamber of Commerce, as well as the BBBS Board of Directors and staff were in attendance. There were opportunities to learn about the program, receive a tour of the new facility, and enjoy light snacks from Eden Meat Market.
The new building offers multiple meeting rooms, an expansive outdoor space, and increased visibility in the community while remaining accessible to the families already being served by the organization. Thanks to the additional amenities offered at the new building, BBBS is piloting a site-based mentoring program with volunteers from Grande Cheese Company this fall. Participating employees will undergo the enrollment process to be matched one-on-one with a child who they will meet with at the BBBS office after work twice a month. BBBS hopes to eventually expand the program to other local companies.
The BBBS team is still making adjustments to the new building create the perfect space for the youth-serving organization. An open house for volunteers, children, families, and the general public will take place later this year.
