Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County held its fifth annual Halloweenie presented by Society Insurance in Downtown Fond du Lac on Thursday, October 26th. This year, the beloved “Halloweenie 0.5K” became the “Halloweenie Street Party” and raised a spooktacular $21,000 to support local youth!

When the first Halloweenie was held in 2019, the original distance was a true 0.5K between Division Street and 4th Street. This year, the event took place on Main Street in Downtown Fond du Lac between Forest Avenue and 2nd Street. While no longer a 0.5K, the Halloweenie Street Party is still all about friends, drinks, costumes, and a good cause.

This year, the committee introduced more vendors, more activities, and more treats for each participant. Attendees registered indoors at The Annex inside Coliseum Sports Bar & Grill. After registering, partygoers could stroll down Main Street to try food and beverages from local favorites like Bob’s Pizza, Catering by Juan, Coliseum Sports Bar & Grill, Craft City Bottleshop/Taproom, Doge Coin Lemonade, Envision Greater Fond du Lac Agri-Business Council, Fat Joe’s Burgers and Brew, Hang 10 Poké, Horicon Bank, Mr. & Mrs. Catering, Sully’s Tavern, Throwback Pockets, and Top Shelf Sports Bar & Grille.

In between tasty bites, attendees could throw axes at Fondy Axe Company’s mobile axe throwing trailer, spin the Wheel of Doom for fun prizes, visit the SSM Health Boo Boo Crew for Band-Aids and lollipops, shake their bones to music from DJ Marty Schibbelhut, grab some swag at the BBBS table, or test their speed with the Fond du Lac Police Department at their fast pitch radar throw.

Individual/duo and group costume contestants gathered at the end of the night to show off their creativity for celebrity judges: Diane Henrich from Society Insurance, Kari Koenigs from Top Shelf Sports Bar & Grille, and Haleigh Nelson and Tony Schmitz from the Envision Greater Fond du Lac Agri-Business Council. Individual/duo and group costume favorites included Cow and Milk, Forrest Gump and Jenny, Dung Beetle, Super Mario, Pink Ladies, and LEGO. The top costumes in each category won cash prizes, nearly all of which were donated back to BBBS.

Held every year on the last Thursday in October, the Halloweenie Street Party is an annual fundraiser benefitting BBBS. This year’s planning committee was co-chaired by Alicia Hans LCSW and Amy Docter of BBBS.
