Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County is excited to honor Kim Meurer as the 2023 Big of the Year! Kim has been a Big to Little Brother Michael since May 2018—that means they just celebrated FIVE years of friendship.

Kim’s calm, soft demeanor allows 15-year-old Michael to feel safe in the match. She’s always willing to go the extra mile to support him and his family, even bringing his siblings on outings so they can experience new opportunities together. They’re regulars at many staple BBBS events such as Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Lemonade Day, local parades, and sailing with the Fond du Lac Yacht Club each year. They’ve also enjoyed hiking, trampoline parks, and the aquarium.

Kim never pressures Michael out of his comfort zone, and that level of trust has been important for the development of their friendship. Since being matched, Michael goes out more, tries new things, and bonds with others.

Being a Big doesn’t come without its difficulties, says Kim, “Is it challenging? Yes. Is it worth it? Every minute!”

The organization is proud to recognize Kim as the 2023 Big of the Year. You can help celebrate Kim and Michael on Thursday, July 13, 2023 when they’re honored at The BIG Event at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Fond du Lac.
