Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County (BBBS) announced the “Building Connection, Inspiring Potential” capital campaign. With a goal of $1.95M, the campaign will help offset the cost of the organization’s new building, reduce the number of Littles on the waiting list, and expand critical mentoring services.
“Our vision has always been about helping children realize their full potential,” says campaign chair, BBBS board member, and Bristol Morgan Bank President & CEO Ryan Kamphuis. “This space allows us to dream bigger, and we’re excited to see the new opportunities it will open up for the youth of Fond du Lac County.”
Shortly after moving into the building, BBBS was able to launch a brand-new site-based mentoring program. BBBS partnered with Grande Cheese Company to secure volunteers, individually pairing 10 associates with local youth based on shared interests, backgrounds, personalities, hobbies, and goals. Participating Littles were picked up by BBBS staff and transported to the BBBS office where they met with their Bigs after school/work every other Wednesday during the 2024-25 school year. Matches connected through games, meaningful conversations, and group activities facilitated by BBBS staff.
“The new building presents amazing opportunities for our Bigs and Littles, which just could not be possible with the old facility,” says Big Brother and BBBS Board President Mike Rosenau. “While the old facility certainly served its purpose over the years, our new facility has green space for outdoor activities, expanded parking, and more indoor space for fun events.”
BBBS has already raised $1.066M toward their goal. Funds from the capital campaign will help BBBS pay off the loan used to acquire the building; enhance existing spaces with additional amenities for youth and families; recruit and retain more volunteer mentors; and increase possibilities for collaboration with community partners.
“BBBS was in desperate need of a new facility for continued growth,” says Big Sister and BBBS Executive Director Tammy Young. “There is so much potential for the future of BBBS. Our new facility allows us to expand our services and serve more children, making more matches and engaging children on our waitlist.”
